campus test centers

The University of Iowa's Campus Test Centers provide in-person proctoring services for online and paper exams. Proctoring services are free of charge for University of Iowa students as well as for individuals completing exams for other institutions.

North Campus Test Center

The North Campus Test Center is our primary location, and offers 48 reduced-distraction testing stations with computers available for online exams.

SDS Test Center

The SDS Test Center offers proctored exam support for asterisked exam accommodations, such as use of computer or other adaptive equipment for exams.

Overflow Test Center

2520D UCC is converted for reduced distraction testing during final exam week to ensure adequate seating for students to complete paper-based final exams.

Exam scheduling

Use of Campus Test Centers is by appointment only. We recommend you schedule early to secure your preferred timeslot.

Scheduling UI exams

Use the Proctored Exams Portal in your ICON course site to schedule, reschedule, or cancel a University of Iowa exam.

Campus Test Center policies

Understand the expectations for individuals who complete exams at a Campus Test Center.  Review the policies to understand what is and is not allowed during in-person proctored exams. Only items pre-approved by your instructor are allowed at the desk while you test.

Scheduling Non-UI exams

Schedule external exams (e.g., exams from other universities, accreditation exams, etc.) at a Campus Test Center.

Exam accommodations

The SDS accommodations you select for each course on the Course Accommodations page in MyUI will determine your exam duration and the location(s) you are offered when scheduling exams in the Proctored Exams Portal in ICON.

Video monitoring and recording

Use of a Campus Test Center constitutes consent to video and audio monitoring. All activities in the test centers will be recorded; any suspicious behaviors will be documented and reported to your instructor.
